Compress it using VirtualDub? I think that how the AMV creators do it.

Get AVISynth, TMPGEnc, and VirtualDubMod (if you haven't already), then Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides:

haha what was the compressor you used? Was it none or huffyuv or something?

Make sure that you compress using Xvid or Divx or one of those that are well known for a much better filesize. Of course, exporting it through the programs mentioned above are also excellent ways. Plus they can help clean up your video's quality as well.

haha, have you ever tried to output somehitng with no compression to an AVI? its waaaaay bigger than just 800 megs ;p I did that before on a 8 gig partition, and I think I got maybe the first minute or so of video.... ok I might exadurating a little, but its huge nonetheless ;p

It was probably DV though, thats huge too even with such a small resolution. I think Primiere defaults to DV. In a nutshell, WHat you want to do is change the setting in the video tab to use Hufyuv, output to that, then use Virtualdub to compress it to Xvid. for the details on how to do all these wonderfull things, click on the extreamly usefull links Scintilla has provided for your convinience. They are a good read to better understand how they all work together.

Yeah, you can export from Premiere straight to DivX/XviD (in fact I did this when I was first learning the program and hadn't read the guides yet), but it's not recommended.
Just so we're clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with exporting a huge file from Premiere (HuffYUV or uncompressed). You just don't want to try to distribute something like that.

And don't forget to compress the audio track too, i've seen some AMVs lately that were compressed with XVid/Divx but had uncompressed PCM audio.

800 megs...lucky. I'm working on a video that isn't to long that currently hits the 2.5 gig mark.

My first music video was 800MB uncompressed... I don't remember the resolution, though.
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.
