Stranger things have happened.
Has anyone ever worked with footage that looked like it was deinterlaced before it was put on the DVD?

Nope, I mean where they deinterlaced the footage before they put it on the DVD. (Yes it would also be progressive but that's not what I'm talking about.)

I'd say a better word wouldn't be "jumpy" but "flickery". When I watch it the edges of certain things flicker. And when I went to make the DVD2AVI project file it was telling me I was getting film footage and the percentage meter was rising, but ever so often would run into NTFS. I kept it 29.97 and IVTCed and I am not getting ANY interlaced frames. However if I go to look at indevidual frames I can see stairsteppping and jagged edges all over the place. Telltale signs of deinterlacing.jonmartensen wrote:Like it's progressive and kinda jumpy?
And no Klinky, I am 90% certain that these arent fansubs.

What DVDs are they? Who made them? What series?
There are alot of ways that it could have been de-interlaced. Such as it being a bootleg or a homemade-dvd(like DV camera footage). But if it's a professional DVD they should not be doing any de-interlacing...

The first season of Spongebob. It wasn't film so they'd be using digibetas, but I guess the fact that I can tell they deinterlaced means they didn't do that good a job to begin with.
