cant reinstall windows what??

Post by Bebop0083 » Sun Aug 17, 2003 12:53 pm

ok i was trying to reinstall windows so i could get all of my space back today cause my program i use needs 700 mbs to install. apparently i dont have that much space. dont ask me where it all went to. so i burner all my crap and was ready to reinstall everything but it wouldnt let me get pass step 3 which is press F12 immediately. i do that then it says use arrow keys to select the CD ROM option and then press enter. i do that and it keeps popping up with press F1 retry reboot, F2 start up menu. i try both of them but they dont do any thing to get me to step 5. there is nothing wrong with my windows xp so im thinking that it wont let me go to that step because of it. usually when i have a computer crash or some other error it does let me. so can any one tell me why it wont let me go pass it? also when i hit F1 it the retry reboot message keeps repeating itself if i hit it.

sounds like a NTSF problem - possibly thinking its a virus T_T !!!

you might need to wipe your hard drive clean by fdisk'ing it.

are you trying to re-gain space on your hard drive -or- update some lost files?

Operating System: ? Win2k WinXP ? ( I know its not WinME or Win98 )

Hard Drive size: ?

Note: to Fdisk your hard drive, it is best to have ALL AVAILABLE Software in CD!

? are you sure you dare to start from a completely clean hard drive ?

STOP!!!! . . . . T_T dell ? . . . you can't re-install DELL nor HP;
they are pre-arranged XP format's ( we call them Image Disc/Hard Drives! )

lets back up a little, do you still have your DELL Instructions Booklet ?
