Audio not properly synched.
For some reason when I encode my videos with XviD, the audio is perfectly timed with DivX Player, but when I try to play it in WMP, it is completely off. Any ideas as wo why?

It seems that the audio was desynched when I encoded encoded the audio with ABR, but works perfectly fine with CBR. Why? I have no fucking clue...thanks anyway!

I don't think that's the case...I played the file with a Dual AMD MP2000 machine with 512 of DDRAM with a decent (old, but decent) video card and audio card.
And I wasn't the only one experiencing the problems, a couple of people tested the file for me and they had the same problem.

It's not his computer speed. You can get 128kbit 44khz mp3 audio to playback full speed on a pentium 75mhz computer. XviD requires about 500Mhz atleast to playback properly. More the better.
Upgrading to P2700 fixing is audio/video desynch
please!
ABR audio has been known to do this. I am not sure why it's reccomended in the guides to use ABR. AVI's need constant umm "packet-length" audio streams. ABR would not fit this description as it would fall under the term of VBR, tho a special type rather.
Use CBR, I don't think you'll notice a big difference. 'Cept it'll be in synch.

The reason ABR was recommended was because when I tested the Lame ACM encoder on a video, ABR mp3 caused no problems at all when doing the same thing with the external lame codec did...klinky wrote:ABR audio has been known to do this. I later discovered that it was just luck of the draw and that particular file didn't suffer any penalties from abr where others do.
Bummer.

I am curious why they suggested ABR in the guides...

that's a rather significant difference, don't ya agree?Use CBR, I don't think you'll notice a big difference. 'Cept it'll be in synch.
