Post by OtakuForLife » Sun Jul 27, 2003 11:28 am

My split screen looks good half black and white for memories and
half color for current time. But, I have a slight problem I want the
bottom black and white track to lightup blue and jump out on
the beats. I tryed Motion but that just crashed my computer over and over again... any help would much appercated :)

With jumpout do you mean zooming towards the screen? If you wanna do that then motion settings is the best answer (there was a camera filter that you can try to play with, but i don't remember the name off hand).

Anyway, the crashing may be related to your video source: are you using divx files for your clips? (divx for editing = teh evil)
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

OtakuForLife, do you by any chance have After Effects? It would be so much easier with AE, but if you don't have it...It'll be a pain in the fucking ass. I hate Premiere's motion settings.

There's really no other way to do that in Premiere other than the motion settings and rubber bands. Like Turboneko said, if you're using Divx, that's why it's most likely crashing.

A straightforward way in AfterFX would be to apply a tint effect to your black and white track. You then change over time the tint amount value and also the scale value (in the built in transform properties inside the layer).

how about a sequence mask from photoshop? Be a pain in the ass to do major sequences, but for repeating 'flashes' it shouldn't be something that you'll finish in the retirement home.

Are you looking for something like this :

":-|

That was done rather simply in Premiere. But only one half can bounce.. Well ":O there is probably some way around that, I think. Also the split screen may only work with the "squshed" mode. Since Premiere doesn't have a proper "Crop" effect :\ 'cuz it's teh suck. But anyways.

Tell me if that's it and I'll explain... ":O

Klinky, with a mixture of Crop and Clipping, you can get it to look quite natural. Just gotta mess with it.

No, because Clip does not support alpha channel. It supports a FILL color. Which is crappy. You can key it out, but you can't use effects that use the Alpha after that because Premiere = teh suck.

Crop is no better. Inaccurate percentages or no more than 20pixels? Pfft, com'on

I don't see how you could do a split screen with just Clip & Crop.

Oh and another thing. Using my method, you could make a "real" split screen using a track matte that transformed with the image. But I didn't feel like fussing with it.

Also I just realized that "Clip & Crop" are redundant. They both suck ass, which makes them both rather useless :\
