Computer Screen?
What?
It could be the server you're connecting to, or something else besides cuteFTP. Maybe WS_FTP has a problem and so does Cute becuase your computer sucks.
You may look into turning on passive mode. :\
I use WS_FTP_LE myself, works fine. I think you have a problem with something else. :\

maybe i should test it on my old computer and i mean old.... every time i try to upload one of my mpeg vids to the org it only gives 50% and not 100%. i couldnt see why it wouldnt work but it doesnt. to be precise when i use cuteftp not only does it time me out it disconnects me. maybe ill have more luck on my other computer. or if my sister is nice i could use her's so i wont have to stick to my old crappy one.

I may be pushing fecal matter up the incline here, but you do have a perfectly good FTP client that ships with the computer - its called 'ftp' and is only a dos box away. If all else fails there is always that.
Do you have a firewall installed or a NAT box? It could be that data ftp connections are not being let through to your computer.

So, you're not using XP, and you don't have ZoneAlarm or BlackIce or Norton's installed right? OK, if you say so.Bebop0083 wrote:i dont have a firewall but im not sure about a NAT box though.
Well, how do you connect to the net? Is it via DSL or cable? If so, do you have a box that sits between the DSL / cable modem and your computer? If you do it might have a NAT (network address translation) built in. NAT allows multiple computers to share a single IP address (and thereby a single internet connection), however they need to be configured to correctly handle certain types of inbound connections.
If you do have a NAT box and you're not sure how to configure it then my best advice is configure your FTP client to use PASV connections.

Believe it or not XP comes with a firewall built in, it's not a great firewall, but it IS a firewall. You can see it on the advanced tab of your connection's network settings. Also, there is more to the Norton's product line than an AV; they also have a firewall product with the highly original name of "Norton Firewall".
Another thing... I'm becoming a little concerned at the implications of some of your points, like NAV acting up and whatnot. It wasn't "acting up" by giving you lots of alerts, or by suddenly crashing for no good reason was it?
