I could never find good explanations of the different profiles (aside from Simple and Advanced Simple, that is, and those were really generic descriptions anyway), or the limitations either. What exactly are all the various profiles meant for, and what are their limitations/abilities exactly? Is there any chance the others (not Simple or Advanced Simple) will be integrated into XviD's or DivX's encoders or is it not worth it to include them?Tab. wrote:Main, Studio, Advanced Simple, Core Scalable, ACE...Zero Serenity wrote:Core? I've been waiting for a good opportunity for to use this picture...

Tab. wrote:In that case, here's why everything you said was wrong:
.avi doesn't require more processing power than .mp4 to play and of course there's no such thing as a container causing a difference in quality. Most people don't use .mp4 over .avi. Your contrasting of xvid and divx to .mp4 was a crosstalk between the codec and the container, which is... as I already said, a no-no. Comparing .mp4 and .avi to jpeg and bitmap makes no sense whatsoever.

LOL, what a joke. Don't tell me I have less experience or research then you kid, I've written my own damn jpeg encoder from scratch and scoured the xvid and libavcodec sourcecode from transform to deblock, H.263 to FFV1. Just the fact that you differentiate between xvid and "core mpeg 4" shows you don't know left from right, end of story. Everyone here knows that. Stop being a lame-ass and trying to save face. You're almost as bad as our favorite bullshitter of all time, Mr. Matthew "Mad Hatter" Moulton. And lord knows the internet doesn't need another him.Zero Serenity wrote:I just won't talk about this anymore with a bunch of people with less experience than I have and aren't willing to do their research.
