Divx codec error whats up?!!

well divx 5 doesnt like me. it works fine on some vids i downloaded that didnt use divx 5. id figure if i just have the player it would be all right but thats obvisously not it. i cant get wmv ecncoded with divx 5 or avi encoded with divx 5. that might help some but i doubt it.

i just figured some thing else out as well. when ever i try to play the divx encoded video example avi divx encoded it wont play in my divx player. it keeps coming up with errors on it.

i found out some thing weird. the vid im trying to get to work plays well in my vegas video but it wont in the other players. except this is not divx encoded though. im still having trouble trying to view the divx 5 encoded one though. i tried to work it in my vegas video but nothing. think the creator could of encoded it wrong?

No they didn't, not in Australia. Theyve only just started coming out here (past 2 or three months or so) but I had the fansubs last December.

and at the risk of sounding really stoopid, (duh-huh) what does ffdshow actually DO? And does it interfere with DivX and all the other codecs, or is it a better alternative or something? Is it worth downloading if I'm happy with what I'm using now?
