Getting clips from DVDs - simple help?

Unless you're compressing frames of solid color, I have a hard time believing that you can reduce video size that substantially by zipping stuff up.

Most likely the audio track wasn't interleaved. You'll want to compress that (it can be extracted from the original video file) and include the stream.

No, the xvid thing. I know I'm not doing it right, but the directions aren't helping... I don't know what half of those things mean.

Interleaved? On second thought, never mind what that means, how do I do it? Small words, please. The guides are getting me more and more confused.
