Won't make a difference. Adjusting contrast and brightness will only make the errors more appearent than they already are.

There really is no way to delete half the image, upscale it, and still retain the same level of definition, either with interlaced or progressive video. Oh sure, if your sources suck you can get away with it, but if you have a source that looks like the one I posted, no way. You'd be far better off using an adaptive deinterlacer in that case.

The image I posted is composed of 11 seperate layers. I think 3 of them actually contain footage from the anime source, and the rest are from my lack of mad graphic skillz.

What you're talking about is Betacam, which I do agree is high quality. If yoy don't know, Betacam is the fat, often blue tape used even by some studios. And it's actually digital, with timecodes, multiple channels, etcetra.

Betamax is a much smaller tape and has a format similar to cameracorder 8mm.
