I am a remuxing retard... please help

I think that vdub's default is to preload 500ms of audio before video starts. Perhaps resetting the preload to that would help.
I had one encode where the sound just would NOT work with a one frame interleave, but when I told vdub to interleave every four frames, it worked fine. I have no idea why that worked, it just did.
Suggestion summary:
Enable interleaving: checked
Preload: 500ms
Interleave: 1 ( or try 2, then 4)
Skew correction: 0ms
Do not correct mp3 streams: checked
I'm a little slow this morning, so maybe this was addressed already, but choose 44.1 or 48Khz settings in the Lame mp3 list to match whatever the rate of your wav file is. That can be verified by loading your muxed master in vdub and checking the file information under the file menu, or checking the already demuxed wav in any mp3 playing program that displays bitrate. 320 is rather large for a downloadable version, and 128-160 CBR is usually sufficient, IME.
^^ please note that I'm not assuming you're stupid, I'm just trying to be complete for anyone else who might read this thread with a similar issue.
Good luck

arg. Well, he said MP3, so I tried MP3. And it did work... so that's at least something.
And that file's on the Carrot now, so it's too late to change that one. I'm not sure if the sound sucks, because my headphones suck. So everything sounds terrible anyway.
For future reference, though - if the codec isn't installed properly that's a problem...
And of course you're not assuming I'm stupid, because that sailed approx. 600 yards over my head. Fear not. ^_^

So you don't have the choice of Lame mp3 in your vdub audio compression menu, like this?

If not, all I can suggest is making sure you have the latest version of amv.app downloaded, or get it again, and pay special attention to the documentation about where to have it install that & other stuff related to vdub.
Heh, typical Windows answer to most problems, umm...reinstall the software...
Also, the setings for the interleaving I described are pretty much as follows:

The above + having the "don't correct mp3 streams" box checked under vdub's preferences are what works for me.

YES, IT IS.
AND IS IT ALSO TRUE THAT LAME HAS MADE QUANTOM LEAPS AHEAD OF YOU IN PSYCHOAUCOUSTIC MASKING AND OTHER FREQUENCY COMPRESSORS?
YES THAT IS ALSO TRUE
PEOPLE OF THE JURY, I REST MY CASE.

^^ if it works for you, use it.
I don't care for these, I'll bet you like these Xvid HACK's:
Nic's : 30 March 2003 Release
Koepi's Stable : 4 October 2002 Release
uManiacs XviD binary Stable : 24.2.2003 11:00
. instead of using the Origal Licensed version - right ! ??
Lame was a hack from the begining and alway's will be a hack - which is not the issue here; trying to get her Audio working correctly is the issue.
/end
