You should just use "clip" on the footage you want to use, and then use the RGB transparency and select "black"
red 0
blue 0
green 0
You may have to reverse key. Also, setting smoothing to "high" may help. But I'm going by the "guess" that using image mattes have clearer results?

KMV
Man, ya... I don't know... yours looks awsome (thats EXACTLY what I wanna get.)
Explination of lines.
The clip seems a little darker and there are black lines running horizontally through the clip/bar. Don't really know how to describe it more than that. Now, the CCS video I've captured from dvd I have at 720X480, something like that... and so I have created the images in PS the say resolution. But what were you talking about the interlacing thing??
could that effect thid all that much (the footage looks fine except for this and when I have effects added on)

By the way... everything I do is with DivX codecs.
But the lines even show up in the monitor window in Priemer before I even export timeline. (u know... the whole holding alt and drag timeline thing)

Premiere is notorious for not liking MPEG4 based codec's like DivX and XviD. That might be the problem. Try editing in something like hufyuv or MJPEG (and then switching to hufyuv for export).

The guides have a lot of good information on this subject.

ouch...
So you saying I have to re-codec all the clips I got from the dvds...
(all the sudden I got a twisted stomach)
So... mjpeg codec right. What if I just convert the codecs instead of converting the vob. file . (i.e. from divx to mjpeg instead of vob. to mjpeg) would that work just as well?

yes, but you would screw up some video quality with that.
and mjpeg codec wouldn't either be the optimal solution for this ;)
Read the guides here for optimal solutions for this.

Hey KMV...
I Converted a clip from divx to mpeg (I don't have mjpeg codecs unless they're under another name) but anyway, the mpeg didn't work either. where do I get mjpeg codecs?

Free to download, $28 to get rid of the watermark.

Hey! they raised the price of the non-commercial license from $18 to $28.
