DivX sucks. XviD is the l33test MPEG-4 codec besides HuffYUV and DV. Ya'll are dumb if you think that DivX is better than XviD.

Suggestion: USE DIVX FOURCC. You got DivX 4/5, it can decode the stream no problem. You use the XviD FourCC, it needs the XviD playback filters to playback the stream.

Neither HuffYUV nor DV implement the MPEG-4 standard.

The green (or alternatively purple) smear problem can occur if the encode resolution isn't a multiple of 8. What resolution are you working at?

well I know what trythil means.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Shut the fuck up man.

Why dont you just let him use DivX. It might make premiere crash but....oh wait, thats only with SOURCE footage. Unless you are wanting to rip off other ppls mvids, it wouldnt be a problem!!

To be more specific, any of XviD's 2-pass modes will cause Premiere to sputter and think the hard drive is write-protected or something. And to be blunt, its one-pass modes look like crap next to DivX.

Why would you want to export from Premiere as compressed for web distribution anyway???

Never, ever install nimo. It is pure evil.

Divx 3.11, Divx 5.03, koepi's XviD, and HuffYUV should be enough to take care of your amv needs, for both playback and encoding in 99% of all cases.

Because it works well enough. Is there some reason why I shouldn't?

Because you can do a much better job, with more precision and control, using vdub and/or avisynth.
