Audio ripping problem

Post by Harley Quinn » Tue Sep 19, 2006 5:09 pm

For the first time I tried to rip audio from 2 DVDs: Ghost Stories Vol 5 and Diamond Daydreams Vol 3 but it doesn't work on either DVD. I used DVD Decrypter because it was suggested and has worked for me so far in getting video. But when I load DGIndex nothing is there. Could anyone help me out? I'd really appreciate any suggestions anyone might have. Thanx

when you rip the vob files from the dvd, you get the video and audio muxed together.
when you run the vob files through DGindex, it splits (demuxes) the vob into audio and video.
as a result, you get the .d2v file (video) and the .ac3 file (audio).

since many editing programs don't support ac3 audio, you need to transcode it with a program like Besweet.
you can load/export many different formats, but the two conversions you'll most likely use is ac3 to wav (for editing) and wav to mp3 (for final encoding/distribution)

http://besweet.notrace.dk/ (get BeSweet v 1.4 and the BeSweet GUI...unless you really are comforatble with/want to use a command line input)

I know you can get audio through DVD2AVI, might be able to do it with DGIndex too. My process basically involves ripping the DVD normaly, loading the project into DVD2AVI, then choosing a selection on the timeline and saving it as an .AVI. The video quality will be crap, but it saves the audio in a seperate .WAV file. Works really well, and is relatively quick and simple. I just don't know if it works with DGIndex. I have a Word file that explains the whole thing in detail. If you want it just let me know and I'll post it on my web page or something. Good luck.
