Converting AVI

I am looking for free software that will allow me to convert an AVI file to something like mpeg. I tried googling and all i got was crap.
I love to wear absurd and totally impractical garments. What's more, I derive great pleasure from spending time with women for no apparent reason.

tmpgenc
you can only convert to mpeg2 for 30 days, but you will always be able to convert to mpeg1

tried your program but it wouldnt support my avi for some reason. :cry:

And if you don't have the codec required to play the video, then of course TMPGEnc won't be able to take it, and neither will anything else. So that could be the problem.
