I'm making my first AMV and...

I need a bit of help. I'm attempting to start out easy and edit it all in Windows Movie Maker...The anime I am using is Naruto. How would I pull the video itself off of the dvd? Should I rip it? When I attempt to save it, it tells me that it's not available to be copied. So....Can anyone possibly help me and tell me what perhaps I can do to solve this?
