Hi, I'm trying to edit some eva footage, and I've run into a bit of a snag. Yes, I'm using downloaded footage, which is the start of my problems, but I've never gotten dvd's to rip right on my computer. (seperate issue, not what I'm dealing with here.)
My problem here is with the renewal versions of eva. They have much better video quality than other versions available, and don't have any subtitles on them, so I'd like to use them if I can. But I can't get them to open in premiere. I've tried using virtualdub to crop an episode down to the minute I need, and tried converting to many different compression modes, but it still won't open.
Episodes from non-renewal versions with the same frame rate and dimensions are opening fine, so I don't know what the problem is. Can anybody tell me what to do?
I'm using Premier 6.5, and the avi's are in some sort of divx.

Re: Primiere problems
and therein lies the problem, video editors really hate DivX/XviD and most other codecs that work the same way, you'll need to convert them to an editable codec like Lagarith, HuffYUV or PICvideo (all of these are covered in the guides as far as i know).thistledown wrote:I'm using Premier 6.5, and the avi's are in some sort of divx.

Re: Primiere problems
That's what I was trying to do with virtualdub. I tried converting to HuffYUV or uncompressed with that, and it wasn't working. Should I try a different program for the conversion?Zaphod_Beeblebrox wrote:and therein lies the problem, video editors really hate DivX/XviD and most other codecs that work the same way, you'll need to convert them to an editable codec like Lagarith, HuffYUV or PICvideo (all of these are covered in the guides as far as i know).thistledown wrote:I'm using Premier 6.5, and the avi's are in some sort of divx.
Ah, this morning I tried opening the episode in windows movie maker, and exported it as a wmv. Premiere will open that, but it's really choppy.
For my next two music vids, I'll definetly be getting the dvd's to rip before I start. Aleady half way through this one with the other episodes.
