Speaker problems

Today I noticed there was something wrong with my computer. My left speaker works, but my right speaker doesnt, and when i try headphones, its exactly the same. when i try to listen to music, the sound quality is absolutely HORRIBLE. Please help me.

If only the left is working, first I would suspect that it is set to mono sound, not stereo. Did this problem just start happening recently?

It started today. I got home at about 5:30 PM and my computer was still on. My computer overheats sometimes, and it causes problems, so im hoping its just that. It it isnt, then I dont know what the hell to do.
