Video edges are involuntarly cropped after DVD burn

Post by Shun » Tue Aug 24, 2004 8:57 pm

Well now that i finnaly figured out my problem with burning DVDs it seems i've uncovered yet another one.

The DVD ran fine in the player but when i begain the video the edges had been cut off, thus chopping the subtitles in half and making them unreadable. I messed around with the TV options and turned on the 16:9 aspect ratio and even though that made it "widescreen" it stretched the subs out and made them difficult to read. Based on that i came to the conclusion that the subs are infact there(Because i can see the complete ones in 16:9) yet it is being chopped off when it plays.

I looked around in Ulead to see if i could change the size of the mpegs being copied but the customization box is greyed out. I doubt this is the problem anyway.

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is natural. It's called overscan. TVs always crop off the edges of any video signal.

I see, would changing the resolution of the mpeg exports before i put them to DVD help this? Or is there any other way of dealing with it?
