I'll bet your crappy encode is at 640x360 too, when the DVD was of much higher resolution.

O_O) and spell/time check the the SRT script generated by the computer from the subtitle subpictures, since of course, we all know OCR isn't quite perfect. I could take your fucking OGM encode, load it into Vdubmod, drop the Japanese audio and subtitles and save it as an AVI without changing the streams themselves. Like it's THAT fucking hard?
OGM, AVI, MKV, same fucking deal, you just have to encode a video stream that dosn't suck ass, and it's not that hard to do. The only think you're doing is filtering the source material, that's not encoding, that's just filtering and it has NO relevance with this discussion.
Taking something that's encoded in MPEG-2 format with a file size of around 4gigs on then cramming it into an MPEG-4 format with a file size of ~700mb is encoding, last I checked. And you failed to understand the point I was making iwth OGMs. The more stuff you have, the more analysis you have to do. For example if you used a slightly lower bit rate on the audio to get a lil more space for the video. Again though, working in a limited environment and then getting as close as you can to that limit is VERY hard to do (unless you're doing a shit rate reencoding job with like a constant bit rate and a single pass). Most of the encodes you'll find done with variable bit rates wind up being like 660~680mb in size, simply because the encoder was an amateur.

I used a res of 640x352, the original DVD had a res of 720x480, HOWEVER, the ORIGINAL MASTER that they used to make the DVD was NOT in 720x480, for some reason they had taken something MUCH smaller and then just did a shit job of resizing it. Like I said, the special edition CCS movie II was just an absolute crap tastic encoding job from the start.

You took a wide screen anamorphic DVD and crammed it into 640x352 and proclaim it's of higher quality?

Last time I checked, analog film dosn't have a resolution that you can specify in pixels.

I imagine you butchered the audio and downmixed the 5.1 AC-3 mixes into 2.0 OGG's too.

We've established the fallowing.
1) You belive that 720x480 Anamorphic < 640x352. (The logic in this makes me vomit in terror)
2) Applying a bunch of noise reduction filters to a medium that is primarily large even color spaces, opposed to live action, means you possess an indepth knowledge of video compression. (You'd think being able to apply filters well would mean you're good at filtering... That'd just be overly logical, wouldn't it?)
3) You were able to efficently get the average bitrate right on an encode. (So of course, you would totally own Superman and the Predator in a fight.)
4) You feed your dog DVD cases for breakfast for some sadistic reason. (That poor dogs digestive system. :( )

Why are people even bothering with CDR encodes? :/ DVDR has quickly moved into the mainstream, the drives and media don't even cost much now.

Okay, at this point it's pretty clear that you're not even reading my posts and you're just looking to start something with me, so I'm ending this. If you want to have a pointless bickering session go and tell Tab he doesn't know everything about video encoding.
