best effects program

just wondering, whats the best program for digital effects. ive got the trials for combustion aond after effects, but the interface for both kinda realy sucks badly, and its anoying geting used to them. anyone know any other good effects editors available for windows ?

i thought i saw a couple for plug-in effects in virtualdub, but i don't know where to get them

I think Combustion is the standard for professionals, but After Effects is much more user friendly. I would really recommend trying to learn After Effects, as its truely an awesome tool after you get the basics down.

I can't speak for Combustion as it costs something around what my car is currently worth, but I've yet to find much of anything that can't be done in AE with a bit of work. The interface is a bit daunting at first, but once you get the basics down (hint: having the quick keys card that you get when you actually buy the software is extremely useful) the limit is your time and imagination...

doing the matrix on ae was a pain the first time i tried it, but hey once u got the basics it is a fun thing to play with, or if u have a lot of time on your hands....

Personally, I find a good C++ compiler is a great way of making digital effects, but thats probably just me...
