Black lines when fading
So. I have this problem; I want to do a quick fade (a three frame fast one) from non-fade to black, and back. The problem here is that I get these black, horisontal lines that look pretty damn ugly.
The same happens if I want to fade from black->regular video.
I'm using Premiere 6.5, at 29.97 fps, the clips are taken from deinterlaced HuffYUV sources (same problems when not DI'ed).
And yes, I'm too lazy to scrool through older posts, so sue me, it's late U_U

Ummm why are you de-interlacing and not IVTC'ing? If you mean you IVTC'ed it, the reason is because your using 29.97, and most likely have one or more interlacing lines turned on.

Yeah thats what I meant... : / I was at work, therefor not having premiere handy...AbsoluteDestiny wrote:It's because you've got fields selected in the rende options.
Choose "no fields" instead of the default "upper first".

Teehee, same problem I had a little while back, I couldn't figure out why my video looked like a mess of scanlines when it faded. I had "Upper Field First" selected for some godforsaken reason.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:It's because you've got fields selected in the rende options.

Oh, btw, I've noticed something. I edit in 25 fps (because thats the PAL standard, I'm in a PAL country). Does this render all of the IVTC'ing and all that guff completely useless or what? Considering its a "complete" framerate (exactly 25, not 23.976 or 29.97) unlike the others, well... All I'd need to do is deinterlace where needed right? None of the guide is written in consideration of 25fps DVD footage.

Aah, thats what I thought. Thanks, that helps. Admittedly i feel a bit idiotic for missing the obvious but you have to start somewhere.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:You can't really IVTC pal, but decomb does have some options for dealing with PAL material.
However, occasionally you'll find something that is progressive like pal movies... but that's very very rare.

I dunno really, I just tried deinterlacing the stuff to see if it helped me or not ^_^ I'm not very experienced in the interlacing/IVTC-stuff yet, still trying to figure these things out~ (I used the smooth deinterlacing as described in AD's guide)Dannywilson wrote:Ummm why are you de-interlacing and not IVTC'ing? Thanks for the help guys, really helped me out here ^^ Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go bash Premiere for its default settings always screwing things up for me >_<
