which imports better (in premiere)

Post by Bebop0083 » Thu Jul 24, 2003 11:53 am

i know mpegs and avis dont work right all the time when you import them into premiere but what about quicktime files?? what im trying to do is edit one video in a totaly different program and then spice it up with premiere so i dont have to worry about the complicated editing. so if some one can tell me a better file thatll be good for importing into premiere so i can easily edit it thatll be great thanks for the help.

Huffyuv is usually the best codec to edit with. You could use MJPEG for smaller filesizes while editing, but it costs money (60 bucks? I don't remember).
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

uncompressed footage works great, but it's huuuuuuuuuge. Also, DV footage works like a charm.

Pretty much any Video for Windows codec where every frame is a keyframe will work fine.

I think the Pegasus MJPEG codec is like $20-$30. It's what I use for the bait & switch method and as a preview codec, simply because it runs so much faster on my comp than HuffYUV does.
