titling in premiere

how do you type the text in premiere? i started a new project and this is my first time handling a project in premiere. what im trying to do is have a picture in picture with text with a black background. any help is appreciated.

File|New|Title...

Or use photoshop and export as a PSD. Then set the transperancy to alpha.

For picture in picture. Click on the link in my sig for my guides and read the one on overlapping.
