scratchy music

A while back I installed a couple codec packs because I was tired of videos and such not working when I watched them, and one of the ones I installed seems to have changed something that makes some .mp3's play back a little scratchy at medium to high volume

has anybody ever had this problem before? If so how did you remedy it?

You *could* try removing the mp3 codec from the system and reinstalling it. If it's only mp3s that are playing funny. Try loading up an mp3 into windows media player and see which codec is being used to decode it :/ (an avi w/ mp3 audio would work too)

thanks, i didnt know you could check it in WMP - found it and it worked
