where do I find the codec to play Xvid?

Koepi's XviD codec(has VfW codec & a Dshow playback filter)

ffdshow(has XviD playback as well as supporting all versions of DivX, no VfW codecs though, so you can't open a file in Vdub, but you could play it in media player).
