You can't rip VOBs into M2V files, unless you take it into TMPGEnc, which is a fucked up thing to do.

Er, yes, you can. VOBs are slightly weird (fixed packing size - I think 2048 bytes - as well as as specific stream muxed in of junk to keep things padded to spec) MPEG Program streams, including one MPEG-2-coded-video elementary stream - an M2V. Darou?

yeah, all you've got to do with a vob is demux it to get a bunch of m2v's, ac3's, and sub's.
TMPG can demux vobs, as can bbtools, some other stuff, and obviously smartripper. I'm pretty sure vstrip and dvddecrypter can too.
