More Help

Post by Matrix Saiyan » Fri Dec 13, 2002 8:23 pm

Ok I have followed all of the guides you have advised me to use. The problem is when I export from Premiere My vid is no longer High Quality! I have tried to import the avs file by switching it with my avi file(if anyone knows what I am talking about) but when I try to edit with the AVS file all i see is black and my ripped DVD is not showing.
Whats Wrong?

What processor speed are you working with, and how much RAM?

I'm trying to get an idea because I'm using a 1.3GHz P4 with 128MB RAM, and when I tried to edit with the VOB files directly via an .avs script, it was very slow and choppy. I have to wonder if a slower processor with less RAM might choke on it completely.

To contrast, when I used MJPEG work files to fool Premiere, as outlined in AD's guide (method 3), it was silky smooth to work with, and only got bumpy if there was a complex effect rendered in the preview window.

Just want to make sure you didn't make the same mistake I did at first...

Are you using DVD2AVI? If so, are you saving as a project (meaning a .D2V filename) or are you trying actually create an AVI from those VOB files?

If you're trying to make AVIs from DVD2AVI, there's the potential problem. That's what I did wrong. When I saved as a D2V project, then made AVS scripts pointing to those D2V files, that's when it worked out.

You might also want to try making MJPEG work files, as outlined AD & ErMaC's guides. Worked a treat for me, and it could work better with your system. With this method, you're using lower-quality work files that playback faster for the actual editing (since all you're seeing is what's in the preview window), and then fooling Premiere by pointing it to your high-quality D2V files when you actually output the final product.

No I am not that dumb I can read. What I am trying to say is when I do the save project and get the .d2v file I use AVIsynth and then make a AVS file and try to switch that with my crappy quality of my clips so I can edit with that but even after all this I still only see black and not my actuall ripped footage.

Are you using the latest version of AVISynth, old versions would not show anything if you had the monitor window resized.

I saw another post there and looks like you have the AMVApp pack. Which should be fine.

Err, try the AVS in another project or VirtualDub.

The switch method suggested that you TRY IT OUT BEFORE COMMITING A ENTIRE PROJECT TO IT ":|

Now you know why....

Back when I did Deluxe Bebop, I made the mistake of making 320x240 MJPEGs from the AVS files, and then switching them with full-sized AVS's. I kept getting memory access errors when exporting on my old chip, since it couldn't work fast enough to export.

I also made the mistake of editing with interlaced footage, and then IVTC'ing. :(
