The effect of airport security on my camera equipment??

Post by y2kwizard » Mon Dec 09, 2002 9:40 pm

Hello all. I'm leaving town for part of this Christmas holiday to go to Atlanta. Funfun.

ANYWAYS, the friend I'm visiting wants me to bring my camera. I REALLY don't want to have the camera ride with the luggage, for I'm worried that it will be smashed to bits when I get it if I even receive it at all.

So what will happen at airport security when I have to put the bag through the X-Ray machine? I know that nothing extremely improbable will occur: nothing will explode, Michael Jackson won't make a comeback, but I wonder what kind of effect this will have on my camera and on my tapes. Does anyone know?

Thanks a lot!

Laptops go through just fine as well as my video camera which is a digital 8mm camera btw. So you should have no problems, my camera still works just fine. The only thing you should give them seperatly are any pre-recorded tapes as magnetism can still mess those up.

Cool! Thanks a lot! I'd love to hear if anyone has ever experienced any problems at all, but it sounds as if I'm cool.
