Wax, free video editing software...

Post by klinky » Sun Dec 01, 2002 3:16 am

I was checking out the latest version of WinMorph since I have plans for its use in my next project. I was surprised to find that the creator has also been working on some video editing software called Wax.

Yeah, that is kinda a funny name :D but yeah. It's pretty nice. Uses tracks and it's layout is similar to Premiere. Currently it is limited though in function  However the guy seems very willing to continue to work on it.

It features, multple tracking, transtions & keyframable transforms(I could only get motion transforms and not size transforms). On the downside it's kind of slow. It seems to try and render while scrubbing the timeline, which = slow. If you have nothing else you can work with, this would be a great thing to try, it's pretty straight foreward and it's $FREE$.

My suggestions would only edit 320x240 video here, anything larger and it slows to a crawl. If using still images, you should resize them before hand. It does not support AVISynth either, so clip out to huffYUV using virtualdub. The "clipping" method included isn't my favorite way, it's kind of how After Effects does "clipping. I don't like it. I like Premiere's way, with splitting the file on the cut, instead of leaving a ghost of the remaining frames

Oh well..

You can get it @ http://www.debugmode.com/winmorph/

hmmm... Thanks for the info, I may just check that out.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
