Music Trivia [Read first post before posting questions]

Post by megaman917 » Sat May 07, 2005 1:41 pm

(I apologize if this is a pointless thread)

You know the drill:
1. We start with a question.
2. The first person to answer correctly has the right to ask the next question or pass it on to the very next person who posts, when the author of the question confirms it.
3. If a question is not answered correctly within 24hrs, then the author of question should give the correct answer and can either ask another question or leave the floor open for the very next person that posts a question, then that person will have the floor.
4. If you're going to ask a question, always put what genre of music your question pertains to.
5. If your question pertains to a certain category, such as "real names", "origins", etc., please either say it in your question or list it above your question.
6. If a question is not answered correctly within 24hrs, and the author of question doesn't give the correct answer within 36hrs, then the floor will be open for the very next person that posts a question, and then that person will have the floor.

Now let the games begin!

This may be a tough one

Correct!
I'll take the next one.

Genre: Rap/Hip-Hop
Category: Real Names
Question: This multi-platinum selling rapper's real name is Jayceon Taylor.

Tell me how easy this one is.

Correct!

Bum, if you don't have a question, I declare the floor to be open.

The very next person to post question will have the floor.

Switching genre gears....

Iron Maiden does a lot of songs based on movies and books, most of which include some sort of explicit reference to the original in the title (such as "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", which uses all of Coleridge's original title). One though, does not, because the people associated with the original creator of the work in question forbade them to use it in the title (though it is mentioned several times in the song). What song is this? No bonus points for the work involved, it's kind of self-evident.

Not as far as I know; there's another one that's more obvious from earlier in their career.

......and "Sign of the Cross" is based on Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose anyways.
