Heh, I still capture manually. I think two or three of my videos used ripped footage, gambitt might remember but I don't. I'm pretty sure none of Playground Love was ripped, it was all captured. Mad World might've been ripped, but those Synch Point FLCL discs are godawful anyway. Hell, I still cut at 29.97 for a lot of stuff. Yes, I'm admitting this, even though it isn't the popular norm amongst AMV people.
One reason is I CAN'T use any of the guides or programs. I can't Read
ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides or whatever. I'm on a different goddamned system. I suppose I simply have a problem blindly following a certain faith when I know there are other options I could try. Whether or not they work, at least I've tried them so I know what can and cannot work for the future.
It may surprise people, but the vast majority does not think beyond "hey, there's a free script." They'll take it and go with it. If you're trying to get the thousands of DragonBall Z and Naruto videos to look good while sucking, well, I'd say that mission is well on its way to working. Just wait for the majority to figure that one out. It sucks ass but damn, it looks okay. I'd just like it if people would actually think about what they're doing. Maybe then the videos themselves wouldn't be so cookie-cutter, I suppose.
I would love to be part of the technocracy. Maybe then I could partake in some conversation rather than being ostrasized for using a system that was built primarily for work and yet is not part of the crowd around here. It's a programmer's paradise in what should be considered an artform. I'm not talking about AMVs as a hobby, I'm talking about the art of editing.
All right, I'm tired of typing, and none of this will ever do any good anyway. I should've just started sucking Ian's dick with the majority rather than drinking with him. Perhaps I simply have an inability to go along with what's popular, whether it's right or not. I suppose that's why I'm not a Christian.
