Re: huffy/lagarith
Filesize depends on pixel count and complexity. From my own experience, a 24 minute episode has roughly the following filesizes with lagarith: 704x400: 4GB 720x480: 7GB (NTSC DVD footage, higher complexity than broadcast or encoded image) 640x480: 5GB 848x480: 7GB 720x540: 7GB 960x540: 9GB 960x720: ...

Re: multiplatform codec help
I might just point out that Huffy is libavcodec compatible. That means that ffmpeg can encode/decode it. You can use ffmpeg for simple encoding and muxing if need be. I might write up some OSX instructions for it later, but it would almost certainly be commandline. Something else to note is that Huf...

Can you post your FULL avisynth script already? You're complaining about FFMS2 not working yet your screenshot clearly says DirectShitSource().

Re: Converting from MP4 to AVI?
AutoDesk are godly. Don't knock them. Their best stuff runs on RHEL workstations though, <3 Inferno/Smoke. Avisynth is currently the best way to do pretty much everything, and coupled with a tool like VDub to preview/encode lossless avi/mux avi and a nice linked AVC encoder like x264 it gives you ev...

Re: Reducing avi file size?
I thought this thread was gonna be about MPEG4-ASP AVI files and I was getting ready to give a whole wall of tl;dr about SBC and why VDub sucks D:

Re: What to do!?
I always use x264, it is the best codec in the world until h265 comes out (joint effort by mpeg and 3rd party) Almost everything you have said is complete garbage. By the time that standard stops being hypothetical and is actually implemented, wavelet codecs should be far more prevalent, which woul...

Sounds like it really is a defective DVD. Grab off a friend, if their's works, get your copy replaced by the store.

Re: Converting from MP4 to AVI?
Avisynth is a frameserver, not an editor. plz2know what you're talking about post-it, this is like the 10th time I've seen you saying something completely wrong yet passing it off as fact. You have no place giving advice to anyone if you are seriously recommending avidemux or old vdub to anyone. You...

Huffy works in OSX perfectly well. You're doing it wrong.

Re: ffmpegsource
I'd trust vdubmod over whatever editing program you have. I sure wouldn't. VDubMod doesn't even attempt to guess, it just uses Rec.601 EVERY time regardless. Colour spaces are different to colour matrices, as mirko said. I don't know what programs you assume I use but they are correct in what they ...
