I just *love* this anime. I saw the original Hellsing series a few years ago and thought it was okay. The best was episode 6 (I think) where Walter went nuts on the Valentine brothers. Then I read the manga. Holy geez! It's definetely in my top 5, up there with Berserk and Vagabond and X. The part t...

How much CG is too much CG?
Being a GITS fan, I saw GITS 2 and bought it without really thinking. I mean, it must be decent, right? Well, I watched it, and after I was done, I had the idea in my head that it must have been made shortly after the first one and I just hadn't ntoiced. I was shocked when at looked more closely at ...

So easy: http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/3408/waltercdornesjl9.jpg Walter C. Dornes. For some reason I can't quite put my finger on, I've always liked cool and unflappable butlers (yes, I even like Remains of the Day mostly for this reason). I love the idea of somebody choosing to be a butler who...

Without spoiling anything, I have to say that I've read the manga, and I liked the earlier parts the best by far. Like end of Volume 4 for the manga, middle of episode 11 for the anime. It's all downhill after that for me. Not that it isn't still enjoyable... I must say, I've been surprised at how w...

Akira was a milestone not just for anime, but for all of animation. The film had over 160,000 animation cells, and had nearly perfect lip-synch dialogue. It set the stage for many later shows, which is why i would never put it on my worst videos list. Akira was a good anime. I remember watching it ...

I don't think I can come up with 5 that deserve to be on my "least favorite" list... but I will say that after reading the incredible X, and then seeing the great TV adaptation, the movie was just... how shall I put this... bad in ways that can't be described adequately with the space alloted a Russ...

There's Elfen Lied ... if you're crazy... I really enjoyed that series, but it's just so incongrous at the beginning. It goes from mass blood and death, to cutesy girly stuff, then back to horrible bloody death... still, it's well worth the watch. Very well done. I'm also a big fan of Yoshiaki Kawaj...
