Scintilla, I love you. *g* That's just what I was after - thanks! Arigatomina - thanks for the tips! I'll have a search through my hard drive and see if an Arcsoft folder is lurking around there somewhere. I think I'll definitely get myself black and white clips though. I have a feeling they could b...

Like: Music choice that actually goes with the anime. The mood HAS to match or it's no go. Sync - action, lyric, mood, movement... preferably all four. Decent visual quality. Originality in clip choices. I like seeing vids that put a new face on an anime series by choosing clips that haven't been us...

Well I've tried using a black .jpg in the same dimensions as the footage (720x480), and that seems to look ok in the preview, but I'm wondering if that'll carry through properly when I compress it. I'd hate for it to stand out when all I'm trying to do is fade gently to a longer space of black. *g* ...

Editing Guide for WMM?

So I've been reading and rereading the how-to guides as to how to rip, clean and generally prepare DVD footage for editing, which is all wonderful. The guides are very helpful indeed, and I'm just about ready to start editing. However... The guides to actually editing anything all refer to Premiere ...

If you like the Ghibli stuff (esp. Spirited Away) then it might be worth checking out Haibane Renmei. Gentle character-based story over 13 episodes primarily exploring ideas of self-consciousness and redemption.

I'm one of those people who does use the search function. When I first got here I began with the Top 10%, and from that got an idea of animes that I liked the look of. Once I'd identified an anime I'd like to see more of, I'd seek it out with the search function and download a ton using the same ser...

Ah well, why not? I'm still working on my very first AMV so it's debatable whether I really "count" as an AMVer, yet at least. But what the hey...

I wish. I've got a couple of Japanese R2s, but being British, the majority of my DVD collection is made up of R2 PALs. For some reason that seems to go hand in hand with a decline in video quality, or at least that's the impression I'm getting. Note to self: must import R1s in future...

Argh. Still got to get the technical language down. Yup, I meant I'm ripping the data. Ok, that's good to know - the state of the footage must just be due to the crappy quality of the R2 PAL DVD that I'm using. *sigh* Thank heaven for AviSynth.

Cheers, Scintilla!

Computer Speed and DVD Capture

I'm using a Pentium 4, 2.40Ghz processor with 256MB of RAM. I realise I need a ton more RAM, which I'm working on, but I've got a general capture question. I tried capturing footage off a R2 DVD the other day, and the result wasn't nearly the kind of quality I was hoping for. There was a lot of macr...
