Re: The worst piece of advice you've gotten about AMV making
A piece of advice that sucks: "Even if somebody hasn't seen the anime, you should edit it so they can understand." If you haven't seen the anime and you don't get it, then go putz around on amv with an anime you have seen. Obviously my audience isn't you. In every amv there should be a theme, so yo...

Re: How has the hobby made a difference in your life?
Well, I need to thank you for getting me to write it down. I think now that I have, it better reinforces what I love about these vignettes that have consumed so much of my idle brain power. That was me putting down how it makes me feel in words. Now, the next step, is building up my skills and exper...

Re: Phan's AMV Hierarchy of Limitations
As we've already discussed Phan, you and I seem to have a similar approach to assigning footage to music. And while I can appreciate trying to formulate the idea process, I think that's usually the part that comes to everyone in different ways. I mean, the actual steps to actually producing an AMV n...

Re: How has the hobby made a difference in your life?
AMVs have given me inspiration. Having been watching them for so long, about 10 years now, I always felt it was a way of giving form to dreams. We all experience dreams. Dreams can range from weird, to scary, to erotic, to hilarious, and maybe even be all those things at once. And so can AMVs. It's ...

I got this last year. HANNS G 21" 1920 x 1080 display HP with i7 CPU 960 @3.2 Ghz 12 GB RAM 2 TB 5400/7200 rpm (can't remember) NVIDIA GTForce 440 I'll be hooking this up to my 40" Sharp TV as well and use it as a preview screen probably. I'm tempted to upgrade my RAM however. Only recently started ...

Re: Third AMV [1:1]
You change the rate at which the footage plays. He's saying you could feasibly slow it down a bit to appropriately match the transition time

Re: Third AMV [1:1]
Around 1:30 and onward, you dip to black at certain parts of the music. If you notice, it's a very abrupt transition. I was trying to say you should lengthen the transition so that it appears to fade to black, as oppose to just, BLACK all of a sudden, see what I'm saying?

Re: Second AMV ever complete. Let's do some 1:1s!
My opinion has been submitted for you. What I'm doing now is I'm using Zarx on an uncompressed .avi version with the aspect ratio you mentioned, I'll see how it comes out. I'll try uploading it afterwards too. I was using standard stereo speakers with a subwoofer while editing. But I just checked th...

Re: Third AMV [1:1]
I can tell you had a clear goal in mind, but there are some issues in the execution. I'm not sure how I feel about having quotes from the show in the video because that makes it feel more like a movie trailer. Regardless, the music was much too loud to hear what they were even saying. I'm going to g...
