Re: Otakuthon 2017 AMV contest (WINNERS ANNOUNCED)

I just wanted to drop by and say this contest was a big improvement on last year and I appreciate the effort put into fixing it up. Last year the contest was a disorganized mess (both at the convention and online), and I admit I went into the contest this year with very low expectations. But I was v...

Re: Otakuthon 2016 AMV contest

I honestly think this whole contest needs a restructuring..... Oh, definitely  Even ignoring this side of things, the screening itself was a bit of a mess as well. I'd heard a few bad things about the contest over the past few years, but this was my first time seeing it myself and it seems like...

Re: Otakuthon 2016 AMV contest

Last year they only posted the results on their forum, but it looks like they didn't even do that this year. Really wish I'd stuck around for the whole contest when I went, but even then I had no idea when/where the results were being announced.

Interlacing on Render

Pretty sure I'm missing something really simple because I understand jack shit about codecs, but I'm losing my mind so here goes. Program is Sony Vegas 8. I was recently forced to upgrade to Windows 10 and had all my preferences reset, and since then I haven't been able to render in lossless avi wti...

Re: What animes are these??? I like the animation

Going to be a pain the butt and ask what 2:34-2:38 is with all the droplets of water, as well as 3:19. Sorry again, I see these scenes used in amvs all over, and this one seems to have all the scenes I've been dying to know where they come from. 2:34-2:38 is also ef: A Tale of Memories/Melodies. A ...

Re: What animes are these??? I like the animation

I don't know all of 'em but I gave it a shot. A lot of these are from VNs so I'm not familiar with them. 0:58 - ef a Tale of Memories/Melodies (I have no idea which) 1:01 - BTOOM 1:02 - Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko 1:05 - The Pet Girl of Sakurasou 1:09 - Hyouka 1:17 - Minami-ke 1:19 - 1:20 - Macross ...

Re: AMV - Shirayuki and Zen - Shattered

This was a pretty sweet, classic romance. I do agree with exkcal on the transitions; a lot of them were very distracting and far too harsh for this song, and you should also watch out for quick flashes of unwanted scenes when you made your cuts. There were a couple of those throughout the video wher...

Re: [AKROSS Con 2015] Ananun by Iren S.S.

I was really skeptical of this video at first because it seemed to mostly be the ED and first episode but I really can't deny that I loved it. You made it work so well and created a really thick atmosphere, even paired with a song that I'm sure most people wouldn't associate with this series, and di...

Re: Polaris

I thought I'd go to my grave without enjoying a single TTGL video, but the world likes to prove me wrong. Yay...? This could've easily been another completely angsty or action-oriented video but you took a much more meaningful approach to it and I loved every second of it. I don't even have anything...

Re: Tips for a manga AMV?

Keep up the motion somehow, especially if its a fast-paced song. MMVs are at a disadvantage because there is no natural movement to the actions so you have to create it all yourself through panning, zooming, transitions, animations, etc. If you're unsure what myself and Kat mean by animating, search...

Re: etiquette of criticism

I don't like leaving comments that are purely positive or negative, so if I can't come up with anything to balance my main point I usually won't say anything. That said, I also try to avoid exaggeration or lying. I think it's important to critique videos and help editors improve, but I also think th...

Re: The Seven Deadly Sins AMV - The Heroes [HD]

I enjoyed it. Great music choice for the setting of the anime, and good action, but sometimes it felt like it never really slowed down. The sequence with Ban and Meliodas fighting in particular felt way too fast-paced for that segment of the song. The pulse transitions in the first two-thirds of the...

Re: The Fine Print (Madoka Magica Spoilers!)

Whenever I've convinced myself that there's no point in watching any more PMMM videos I find a new one I really enjoy. You had some great sync and timing in general, and there were only two or three scenes that were just a little too slow or lasted too long (Madoka & Sayaka at 1:17, and again at 1:2...
