  • Comments: In all honesty, I'm finding it difficult to come up with things to say about this video. Usually I could ramble for hours about the creation process and make several little side comments about my video's place in the current world of AMVs...this video info section can always be a little soapbox, and generally I take advantage of that, but this time there's just nothing too interesting to say.

Basically, I made this video because I love the song and I love the anime and they go really, really well together (in my opinion at least), and...well, that's about all there is to it. It is kinda spoiler-y, as it's basically a re-telling of Tekkonkinkreet (almost, I took one liberty but it actually doesn't change that much). By the way, if you haven't seen Tekkonkinkreet...go watch it, it's a fantastic, psychological anime with such beautiful aesthetic detail.

I was going to do a lot more technical work in this video, but as I went along I realized that there was no need. My bigger, dumber ideas were (thankfully) scrapped about halfway through and I simplified the video as much as I could, focusing more on heavy-hitting scene selection and telling a story that would make sense to an outsider rather than making something that was visually really cool. I think the video is better for it.

Also worth noting, I premiered this video at Nan Desu Kan 2014 and it won Best Drama, which was pretty neat. I *think* that might be the first audience-judged contest I've won, or at least the first such contest I've won where I was actually in attendance. It was a cool experience. It was actually a bigger deal to me that several editors that I really look up to seemed to honestly enjoy the video, especially given that they can be the jaded, critical type.

Oh, one other thing I want to mention -- I first heard Paper Route about a year before making this through seeing aerialesque's Two Hearts, which at the time of this writing is probably my all-time favorite video. Please go download and love it as much as I do.

    Anyway, hope you enjoy!

    Technical notes:
This video was primarily edited in Sony Vegas 8, although I had some basic help from Adobe After Effects 7. I do not know how long it took me, several weeks at least, but my editing time these days is limited to a few days a week at most so in terms of how many hours it took, I'd guess somewhere around 20-30.

One day I'll release a video in HD...but it is not this day.

    P.S.
