Every year on the org, we have the VCA (Viewer's Choice Awards) and every year, there's always the complaint of popularity vs. deserving videos/editors (among many others, but this is probably the largest complaint).
No contest is ever balanced, but many conventions do offer the alternative judge's vote, which many feel have less bias towards popular editors/sources/etc.
So, I wonder what people's thoughts are on either of the following:
1. An integration of a judge's vote (via nominated panel of judges) in the VCA as a separate category(or multiple categories).
2. An entirely different contest altogether sponsored by the org or via another group that's judged also by a panel.
Obviously, the former would be more difficult to implement than just creating a new contest altogether. And also, there are many ways that which this type of contest could be held, but I'm talking specifically about a Judge's Choice Awards to complement the VCA. As in, any video within the year would be eligible.
However, there would need to be some rules/guidelines that are different from the VCA's. If I were to help sponsor such a thing, I would include the following:
1. Only videos that are actually submitted to this contest are eligible to be contestants - not just any video on the org.
2. I would like to see a panel of judges be nominated/voted instead of just picked by one person.
Just something I was thinking about... any thoughts/input would be appreciated. |:
Update - I'm hoping to compile people's thoughts and ideas on how something like this 'should be' implemented (most likely on the terms that it would be sponsored outside the org, but 'hopefully' backed by the org as somewhat of an official contest to be a complement to the VCAs), so please try to give some input on how to make this work. The other purpose of this thread is to see if there's even enough interest for such a thing - so please feel free to pimp the thread to anyone you think may be interested. |:
