Ok, here is a song by Yoko Kanno, called, "Black Escaflowne." There are so many different part to this song that I could say that I have heard about a million times before. I edited the song a little, for sake of space. the first section Sounds like beginning song to FFVIII, or the One Winged Angel song from FFVII.
The second part (The transition should be clear) sounds as well as the theme song to FFVIII (librit something or other). In this you can clearly hear the word, "Escaflowne," so I know it's not just a name mistake.
The third part..Oh the third part. Can you say BATMAN?! Sounds exactly like it. Though I have nothing to compare it to.
The next few parts aren't as familiar, but do ring a bell. Tell me, is there something weird going on here, or are these just very commonly used orchestrated techniques?

"Black Escaflowne" reminded me a lot of Duel of Fates by John Williams actually.

that Black Escaflowne sounds like the beggining of One Winged Angel to me. I think it's pretty cool but the beggining bugs me a little.
