Anyone know what won?

I was there, but I didn't see the announcements

Also, where was the coin from Scrollquest?

I know the official results of the Action and Comedy entries:

ACTION:
Winner: "Rock Fist" by Quincy Riddick
Runner-up: "Mr & Mrs Smith" by Adam Porvecchio

COMEDY:
Winner: "The Confrontation (or Eva the Musical)" by John Westbrook
Runner-up: "Watch Out, It's Desert Punk" by Jeremy Soria (that's me!)

The fan favorite winner was "The Confrontation (or Eva The Musical)", which was Eva set to "If You Were Gay" from Avenue Q; I thought it was an extremely mediocre video (with Sarahtheboring and Savvy-Style having made better versions of a video with this song), but I knew it was gonna be an instant win because it used an instantly funny song and was the only other comedy video in the entire contest.

I'll see if I can find out what the Drama and Romance winners were.

Thanks for the update Brakus. I enjoyed both of your AMVs.

Did anyone see a ballot or box for Friday's showing?

Here is an idea I voiced on the Otakon contest thread. You saw the way Nekocon did the voting. What if they took off the creator's names and category listings on the sheet and ask people to select their favorite AMV from each category? In other words, let the fans decide which was the best comedy, action, etc., without telling them in which category each AMV was listed? (Just a thought. Maybe they should add a parody category as well? Maybe one for trailers too?)

Just a thought…

Um.. unfortunately I question if fans would be able to tell a drama form a comedy. One big problem with fan voting has always been the vid that makes them laugh will get votes. People will just put whatever couple vids they liked and won't take it seriously. Then you basically end up with popular anime/popular music winning everything still only it may or may not fit the category it belongs in.
