Manifest AMV Competition

Hey guys, I'd like to direct your attention down this way for a moment. Once again, the Melbourne Anime Festival (MAniFest) is holding an AMV competition and we would dearly love for you guys to participate once more.

Last year we saw a significant increase in the number of entries, as well as the quality of the works submitted. This has therefore led to MAniFest perhaps becoming one of the toughest AMV competitions down here in our part of the world and we would like to keep the competition as awesome as last year if not even better. And for that, we need you guys to once more give us your best.

We're now accepting snail mail entries (this is our preferred method), however if you feel that you cannot send us your videos via mail, then give me a buzz and hopefully we can work something out (but please, try the mail first).

The rules can be found in http://www.manifest.org.au/amvcomp.php . Exact date for the convention should be announced in a month or so, but it is more than likely that the due date I have set for the entries will remain the same.

As well as the standard AMV competition, we also run our own variation of an Iron Chef competition, held over 24 hours, and not just a one on one battle either. The rules for that will come soon, but in the meantime, if you are going to be near Melbourne and attending the convention near MAniFest, start thinking about this because it's hella fun (and see if you could beat the 2005 Iron Chef, bluetrain).

Finally, we're also having an Exhibition session in which we showcase the videos which didn't quite make the cut in the competetion, as well as videos which have been asked to show only and not compete, and also the MEPs we are keenly wanting to premiere then as well as some of the more awesome new arrivals in AMVs.

There's a lot to be had in MAniFest in terms of AMVs this year, so be sure not to miss out. I look forward to your videos ;)

Oh, and did I mention we give away medals for prizes as well as a swag of anime goodies (last year it consisted of complete box sets and plushies)?

EDIT: The Iron Chef competition information can now be found on http://www.manifest.org.au/iron.php

Got a date for the con itself? Can't find it on the web site which is still showing the date for 2005.

Unfortunately not yet... Officially, the date will be announced on the 8th of April in Minifest (mini-Manifest :P)... My bets are for September 22-24 at the latest.

Ok, I've updated the information in the main website so all the AMV events are now consolidated in this page: http://www.manifest.org.au/amvinfo.php

Besides that though I want to announce the opening for entries of the Iron Chef AMV competition. For the second time running, if you feel that you have what it takes to battle it out with last year's Iron Chef winner bluetrain, then by all means, contact us. Read about how we do our Iron Chef competition here: http://www.manifest.org.au/iron.php

Sorry for still not being able to release the date of Manifest itself and I hope very much that this information would be released this week.

Remember, we are still very much looking for people to enter the AMV competition so get cracking on those videos!

The Iron Chef and AMV competition deadlines are both now August 31, 2006!

This is due to the announcement of the date of Manifest itself which is going to be on the 22nd to the 24th of September.

:? So soon? I'd have gone this year but.. working yeah, work.
Used to chat to reedoo (went to tafe with her at one stage) gotta catch up with those few that are actually mature within the manifest community.

Oh well next year comes around I'll have something done, then I'll turn up and show it off myself.

Just a note... you don't have to be in Manifest in order to compete ;)

63 more days to hand in your videos! That's plenty even to the laziest of us...
