AAC 2005 - Amateur AMV Contest
AAC 2005!
That’s right – Amateur AMV Contest, 2005. For the “n00bs”.
So if you’re interested, here are the rules:
1) Only Windows Movie Maker is to be used. (Sorry for anyone else who doesn’t have Wmm. We’ll be trying something new next year [hopefully])
“You can ONLY use Windows Movie Maker to make your video. No using premiere or after effects then importing the clips into WMM. Your cuts, edits, effects must ALL be done in WMM. This is the most important rule and I have ways of knowing if you use any outside programs. If you're gonna cheat this rule, then don't make it too obvious, however you will be cheating your dignity.” – Quoted from Castor’s WMM Contest.
(If you do footage prep. You may use the basics, VirtualDub, DVD Decryptor, etc. but you HAVE to edit it all in WMM.)
2) All videos must be completely new creations, nothing you’ve submitted to the Org.
[Edit]: Due to the amount of requests, videos submitted to the Org in December will be accepted, but with a slight penalty. (Some people are working on new ones as we speak for this contest, and they deserve a little more consideration.) So if you submitted a video to the Org in December 2005, your video is still eligible.
3) Edit: Deadline is January 15th, 2005. Any submissions afterwards will be ineligible.
4) All content must be approvable by the Org. One exception is violence. It can be as graphic as you want.
5) If you make bumpers (intro and outro titles) the must conform to the following:
a. Intro: May only have AMV Title and Editor’s name/Username (one or the other)
b. Outro: May only have the Band/Artist name and Song name.
-If there is anything else you will be disqualified.
6) If you have won a previous contest, it may ONLY be a amateur contest.
Submitting your video:
You can submit you video in various ways. However, do NOT submit it to the Org until after the contest. You can use other file transfer (YouSendit.com seems popular). Also, you may mail me a CD of your video.
If you plan on mailing me a CD, E-mail me as soon as humanly possible so we can get the details worked out before the deadline.
Only one submission per editor. MEPs are allowed, but discouraged due to funding.
You may send in your video at any time. E-mail me when you have uploaded your video. If you are sending it via mail, E-mail me the day you put it in the mailbox. (I am not liable for any broken CDs in the mail, and I will not pay postage)
Categories:
You may submit any kind of video you want, but for organization purposes, please submit the genre of video it is.
The four general genres you should submit with the video are:
Action
Drama
Comedy
Holiday
If you think it is a combination of any of these, just submit one or the other. If holiday, it must be a holiday between Halloween and Valentine’s Day.
Re-mastering:
You may re-submit a “re-mastered” video before the deadline. If you find something wrong with your original submitted video, you may send in a re-done entry. This must be THE SAME concept. All “re-mastered” videos must be submitted with a good reason. We may refuse a “re-master” if we deem it not reasonably the same as the previous video.
Screen Shots:
All videos must be accompanied by at least one screen shot of your WMM timeline to prove that you are using Movie Maker. It cannot be a shot of the completed timeline either. It must be in the middle of the creation.
“You can do this by pressing "print screen" on your computer and pasting it into MS Paint and saving it.” – Castor’s WMM Contest
Once you take the Screen Shot, e-mail it to me (my E-mail will be posted below).
If a creation was made but not uploaded to the site, this may be waived on a case-to-case basis, to be approved by the judges. A reason for approval for denial may not be given.
Judging:
I will E-mail you if you are disqualified and why. If you are disqualified, you may appeal it by sending me an E-mail with why you feel you shouldn’t be disqualified.
There will be four judges. There will be a judge for action, drama, and comedy. All judges will watch the videos together throughout January and decide on 12 finalists. 2 action, 2 drama, 2 comedy, 2 holiday and 4 wildcard. The wildcards are videos that one judge wanted to keep in the running even though the other judges didn’t. Each judge gets one wildcard.
All judges will then agree on the first, second and third best amateur videos. The winners will be posted at the end of January, either in the forum or on the site (site not up yet).
Prizes:
1st Place: $20 Amazon gift cert.
2nd Place: $10 Amazon gift cert.
3rd Place: Complete Synopsis of their video by all 4 judges.
NOTE: There is probably a lot of stuff I forgot and will be add addendums to this multiple times. I will notify all contestants When I do.
If you have any questions E-mail me at: PsycoticLS@hotmail.com
Sign up here, then send me an E-mail confirming that you want in. (No PMs, please)

bleh, yes, no WMM for me...
Mebbe you should have the WMMers set off in their own category and the "others" in another. Then you wouldn't be excluding any newbies - since you are, you know. Someone who's good with another, more advanced, editing program could pull up WMM for this contest and enter a Premiere-level video and say "ha ha" to everyone else who's struggling to learn the basic concepts of video editing on WMM.
I'd enter with WMM if I wasn't in the middle of another project.

Ok...so...edit...
Ok, since I've gotten a few requests, this contest will be extended to other editing software. If you want to enter you must e-mail me your username and what software you want to use. I will approve it.
Deadline is still the same, and you still MUST send at LEAST one screenshot before/when your video is sent.

Update:
I have recieved a total of one entry do far. I'm sure there are more people out there who are willing to participate in this contest.
Remember, now all editing programs (save for Premire) are allowed. Try to keep it honest, though. If you have Wmm, try to use that first.
Remember, deadline is the end of December.

Thanks for the intrest. I'll keep the deadline the way it is for now, but if you're still not done by then, we can push it back. Due to the lack of sign-ups so far, I don't think pushing back the deadline is a problem.
The deadline was put there because I want to have all submissions reviewed and graded by the end of Jan.
Once again, thanks for the interest and ganbate, ne!
