Suggestions for "quick video comment" area
How about if there were a "quick comment" section for people to leave feedback on videos without worrying about scores or opinion word count.
Right now I only leave opinions when the creator asks me to, and only if I have something to say about the video. Otherwise my scores might make the creator angry with me, or I might bring my average word count down (which would make it harder to get people to exchange opinions).
For example... who wouldn't want an opinion from Absolute Destiny? Yet almost nobody has ever got one (he has given 13 opinions) because he insists on making all his opinions super long. (the average word count is very high). Also, since AD scores very low compared to the site average, if you do get an op from him, it is at the cost of your opinion scores.
Right now if you really want to say something you can always just PM the creator and hope they actually read PMs, but a place for just quick comments would help I think...[/url]

Yes, Yes, a million times yes.
I can not tell you how awesome this feature would be.
I think it would help a lot too, for people who just want some feedback. There is no way I'm going to start opinionating every vid I download, but if there was a convieniet little text box, not tied to scores or oppinion score (I know I shouldn't care about it but I do) I'd write a short paragraph for every vid. Just make a little box and title it comments, no fuss, no expectations, no complaints.

Has it occurred to you that people who infrequently leave opinions do so because they just don't care?

In other words, it's a great way to encourage spam.Prodigi wrote:but there are also many people who don't simply because they are too lazy to write up a whole opinion, where as if they had just a quick comment area where they could post what they thought quickly, they would.
It seems that removing or revamping the usefulness metric would be another way to solve the root issue. I mean, bigger numbers are better, of course, so if we can fix that then it'll all be good.

So, what, would this work like a Guestbook for videos?
I think Trythil's right that it would encourage spam. Is it at least possible to make it so you can only leave one comment on a video, much like opinions? That way you wouldn't have long exchanges between people.
