Ok, this comment is somewhat complicated so bear with me. During the first weeks of college, I talked to a couple people in my dorm who's really into anime; they're not afraid to discuss about a couple popular titles like Cowboy Bebop and Hellsing. Then I found out they're not into it anymore because they discovered a lot of other people in the campus who's into anime. They said that anime is not a "personal" interest anymore since lots and lots of people are into it. Man, I thought it'll be great that anime becomes more mainstreamed and popular, but I guess there's people who doesn't like that. Any comments?

Anyone that could give up something just because they aren't the only person in the world that enjoys it... well... i'd say they have mental issues.

Hmm I know some people like that, only they don't do that with anime, just things like bands etc. Basically, they're the opposite of bandwagoners...once something becomes more popular/common they suddenly don't like it anymore. Meh, if something can't share an interest and only have it to one up other people, clearly they aren't worth the effort.

That's pretty annoying...I wish anime were mainstream here!

I live in a town full of hicks that drink, play football, and drive trucks all the time. Nobody likes anime here except for the geekiest of the geeks! I want to find some normal people that watch anime! Go mainstreeeaaammm!!!!

I've actually heard about this. Although I've only heard of it with the people that originally started with anime (some of the original fansubbers, etc.)

I don't really understand the psychology of it, but I imagine it's like the stereotypical "cool artists". They're cool because they're different than everyone else, then once it becomes mainstream, it's not cool in an outcast sort of way anymore.

Here in Florida normal ppl like anime. Im glad I live in Florida. ^_^
