Looking for an After Effects guide

Post by godix » Wed Oct 15, 2003 11:10 pm

Thanks to lots of useful tips and guides around the net I managed to learn Premiere and Photoshop reasonably well but now I'm trying to learn how to use Aftereffects and have come accross an astounding lack of good guides. Unfortunately I need one because even after playing with Premiere I just don't get how AE works. Can anyone point me towards a guide designed for morons?

TFMS

The fucking manual sucks. It keeps assuming I know things that I don't, phrases things in a way that confuses me greatly, or occasionally flat out contradicts what knowledge I do what (I suspect I need to unlearn some Premiere things). Which is why I need the morons guide to AE rather than a manual. Thanks for the help though, it's appreciated.

Get married. At least that's what worked for me in the past, there are all sorts of things I once knew that apparently I unlearned by putting on that ring. Laundry. Cooking. Cleaning. Managing money. How not to get caught with porn. Choosing my own friends. Spelling and grammer (well, to be fair I never had that good a grasp on this to begin with). Being a man. Etc.

You could start with:

Creating motion graphics with After Effects, Volume 1: the essentials

If you ever want to get fancy, you can get

Creating motion graphics with After Effects, Volume 2: advanced techniques

as well :P Great books, if you ask me...
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
