Do you own an anime or game OST?

Post by SQ » Mon Oct 06, 2003 8:39 pm

If so, would you mind donating it to my site, "AMP"?

What's AMP?
"AMP" stands for "Anime Music Page". It is a comprehensive buyer's guide to anime and game OSTs. It provides tracklists to all the OSTs I own or have been donated to the site, and 5 downloadable tracks per disc of OST.

Why 5 tracks?
Because I believe 30 seconds of some odd song isn't enough. 5 tracks per disc of an OST, is the perfect number IMO, to allow the listener to hear the OST's contents, and see if s/he likes it or not. It is also the apropriate number that, if the listener DOES like it, they'll have to buy it since all the tracks arn't downloadable.(Therefore, they can't leech).

Been to the site before?
I realise before that AMP was just a complete leeching site. You want so-and-so OST? I have it. Download all the track, done. AMP was never made to be a leech site. It was supposed to be a buyer's guide from the beginning, I was just stupid, I guess. Plus, half the links didn't work! So now it's time for a MAJOR update.

How do I donate?
Well, what I want you to do is post here saying what anime/game OSTs you own. I may already have your OST listed on the site, so you won't be able to donate if I already have it. However, if I don't have it, I'll give you further instructions as to donating.

Will you recieve credit?
Of course! Since you donated the OST, I will give credit to you. I'll link to your email and/or sites, or, if you wish to remain anonymous, so be it.
You can also inform me of what site you want linked to to buy your certain OST.
(Don't say ebay! )

So... Carry on.

Yes, I collect game remix CDs. But no thanks, I'll keep buying them and support the companies. But good luck on ripping off the people you claim to like. Cheers.

5 tracks per disc per OST, to sample the music, than a seperate URL(or set of) for the preferred site to buy from that OST.

There's also a very long list of URLs to sites to buy all the OSTs from the main page.

But, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and I respect yours, Sarah.

Just thought I'd make the linking to the buying sites part a bit clearer...

I would recomend samples of the songs, each of which is not longer than 30 seconds. Streaming would be a prefered method of exposing the audio, so that no copying is being done.

Otherwise teh RIAA is gonna nab yo' ass! :p

I have a feeling this is a desperate attempt to have someone give you music because you're too lazy to use *censored software* or *censored software*.

You do know we won't believe you if those 'buying sites' are located in Hong Kong or Singapore.

Actually, no. I buy my own OSTs, and I put up the tracklistings on the site. Even though I pay 50-60 USD per OST, I am still willing to put up ONLY 5 whole tracks per disc per OST. The only reason I am asking for others to donate is because there is NO WAY I could POSSIBLY own EVERY OST ever created(Nor would I want to, to begin with).

All I am asking is for you to state which OSTs you have, if You WANT to donate, and further instructions if I don't have the OST you do.
Propyro wrote:hack//sign OST and .hack//liminality sound track.
Now, I don't have the .hack//liminality soundtrack. Since everyone is claiming that I'm going to steal said OST, I'll give you the donating instructions(IF YOU WANT TO DONATE) here.

Email me (Q_mun@hotmail.com) the name of your OST(.hack//Liminality), with the tracklisting(if you can translate it).

If You can, also email me, attached, 5 tracks. I really don't care what the bitrate or format of it is, it can be .rm 32kb/s for all I care. All I want is 5 of your favorie tracks per disc per CD.

If you cannot email the tracks, we can either arrange for a time to transfer the files over IM, or I can give you a username and temporary password to upload the songs directly.

---

The site was not made to be a leech site, and I never said "If you have so-and-so soundtrack you MUST donate to me!!" I said "If you have OSTs, would you be WILLING to donate to me".

In my personal opinion, 30 seconds of a song is not enough to sample the music. So I only provide 5 tracks per CD per OST to sample, and a seperate page per each OST with links such as the official distributor, and then other places where you could get said OST.
There's also a link from the main page listing ALL official distributors, and all links where you can buy all the OSTs on the site(this is why the update is taking so long; I'm completely redesigning the site).

Now, there are two outcomes. The person who downloads said five tracks can stash them on their computer and loop them conituiously or burn them to a CD(Which undoubtedly will happen =\). Or, they can say something like "Hey, these five tracks sound good to me, maybe I should buy the soundtrack"(Which is what I'm aiming for).

Sure, they can search kazaa or something, but they could do that without the site anyway, and in most cases, the songs arn't there to begin with (I used to search on kazaa for OST songs before I bought my own).

In a nutshell, the site is supposed to expose OSTs. If you haven't seen AA anime, would you buy it's soundtrack without sampling it first? No.
Some sites only list the tracklistings for anime/game OSTs. While that's fine, even if the tracklistings have pretty names, would you buy the OST for AA anime based solely on the track names? I wouldn't.
That's why I made this site. So even if you haven't seen AA anime, you can buy AA's OST fully satisfied because you listened to five full tracks of AA's OST.

Sure, you say 30 seconds, but there's been a few times when I've listened to 30 second samples, liked them, and then when I bought the OST I was mortified. That was 50-60 USD down the drain. I don't want that to happen to anybody else.

Not to mention that most sites where you can buy the OSTs don't have tracklisitings to begin with, or there's only half a tracklisting. Some people cannot read Japanese, and I'd really like to know what these symbols stand for on the back of my CD.
Where do I go?
There's plenty of tracklisting sites(I've had to search them all for my site) but 50% of them have a small selection and I have to keep hopping to other sites.

On the other hand, the two sites I found with an extensive list of tracklisting both have no translated the tracks. Something like "Tsubasa no Kami"(randomly thought up) does not help people who do not know Japanese. So even though they have the symbols translitherated, it still means nothing.
That's the other purpose of this site-- To translate ever single track into english. Instead of having "Tsubasa no Kami" listed, it would be "Wing Goddess" or "Goddess of the Wings". THIS helps(for me).

Hope that sheds more light to the subject, and again, I'm not FORCING you to donate, I'm only saying "Are you WILLING to".
