one of the more memorable phrases on this site by Kusoyaro wrote: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
Anyways, a most interesting project, looking forward to the results.

Ahahahahahah that Kuso quote is great. And I completely agree. The reason I make amv's is because I want to...I'd still make them if the community wasn't here. And my reason for using 3D is not "OMG lookatmeIuse3d I'm betterthanallyou", but simply that I reeeally reeeally like when I see a video that has something "new" in it, something you didn't see in the original anime.

3D might be a little more streamlined as far as work process goes, but it takes about the same amount of skill to animate in either medium. The principles behind character animation (I'm talking about the MOTION here) are EXACTLY the same. I'd highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to animate characters:

Yea... its for this little candy video thing im doing >_>

Sorry. I assumed that you would be matching the lighting on your source (eg character has shadows on right, assume light is on left and match the stage lights.

It looked to me like you had a pretty good stage lighting rig set up, so I assumed that's what you would be doing anyway. I'll shut up on it now.

HoshiNoKaze: great book. A little to roger rabbit obsessed, but still good.

I think this does a decent job at showing my intent. The camera panning back from above the band and then up to the LCD screen where Ryuichi is still singing. I can use that to transsition to video clips as well, since Ryuichi's singing will really only be like 20% of this video. ^_^;

That's looking awesome Izumi. I know all that masking has to be a lot of fun -_-; Still, the end result will be fantastic.

The close ups where he moves around a hell of a lot are the real problems.

Well, I did it. I'm deep in production on the AMV and I just created a segment that is complete gold and I thought I'd share it.

This really illustrates how useful this 3D stage is in creating footage that I wouldn't have had before and it really brings it all together. The use of the LCD screen is especially fun. :3

I'm open to any comments.

Looking good, definitely looking very high pace. I'm not sure if it's just because of the actual source itself, but the first few segment with the dude singing wasn't flowing so well in terms of movement.

You won't be seeing anything from me that's near this depth for some time still yet owing to the fact that I'm still so unmotivated to edit anything.

It's the source and how I used it. It's an 86 frame segment I cut out frame by frame. But with how much he moves I couldn't lipsync it. The cut to him singing on the LCD in the middle is how I cheated to get a reasonable lipsync, it actually repeats the first motion. ^_^;
