I love that idea. Personally, I think that in the first post of the thread, if it's a private party, then mention it. If it's public, then it will be that way. Maybe we should look at some of the topics more often than some people do...Moonlight Soldier wrote:If an event has already taken place, really the only thing I’d leave it open to are posts with links to either after thoughts (like journals) or photo-albums of the event.
Maybe the admin should make a sticky regarding the convention forum as a whole and it’s purpose

Just a few things I wanted to say about everything that has happened:
A Little Info on the Bash Itself
The party I throw every year at Otakon has never been about elitism. I could care less about that. It's been a social event that brings together a good number of amv friends that I have...friends that I have made in person and over these forums as well. Due to space restriction, I cannot invite the world. I indeed have looked into reserving ballrooms and larger "event rooms" for this party so that I do not have to exclude people, but everywhere I have checked is more than $7500...which I cannot afford myself, nor do I want to charge people to come. Two years ago, I lucked out and was able to get a two floor apartment sized room for the party. I met many newcomers to the yearly party because...well since the space I had inherited was much bigger...I invited people to bring other friends and amv creators. I met so many people that night and everyone had a blast! But, that occurence has yet to repeat itself...sometimes you're only lucky once.

I cannot control the silly or seemingly harsh things that these people say. Simple as that. I refuse to tell people how to act. That's not for me to do. I can however apologize if anyone was offended since this is technically my post, and that sort of thing was NEVER intended. I cannot include everyone in this event. There's just simply not enough space at my disposal, but no, that does not mean that any should be made to feel as if they are trash being turned away.
The Reason Behind the Thread
The thread is started each year so that the people that usually come every year can talk about it and we can organize what needs to be brought to where and such. I've met many people in the last 6 years. I do not have all of their personal information..sometimes I even forget about people. They're not unimportant by any means, but sometimes it happens. a-m-v.org has been the common grounds between some of us. There are people that find out about this event only by means of the yearly thread. Mainly for this reason, is this topic posted on a public forum. And since this is a gathering of AMV creators at a convention, I felt this was an appropriate forum...which was deemed satisfactory for the last 3-4 years.
The "Pointlessness" of the Thread
I believe this was the deciding factor behind why the thread was locked...at least that's what I read and I'd like to believe it was the only reason. This is entirely my fault. I've had completly too much going on in my life and I haven't been able to dedicate the time I usually put into planning this party. Usually when I posted on the thread it was to say that I was trying to get organized to post something more substantial. It just didn't happen quick enough I suppose, but I had never imagined the thread being locked because of that.
Some Final Comments
Whether or not the party can be considered private or not, this is still a public forum. If I make a post to organize an event at an anime convention in the anime convention forum, people have a choice as to whether or not they read it, as with every other thread. I do not know what I've done to people on this forum to constitute such a reaction, but since the thread wasn't locked b/c of people complaining I won't dwell on it.
So to those that were offended by the topic of the thread itself, I humbly apologize and hope you understand why it is that it exists. To those of you who were offended by someone that posted on the thread, take it up with them or an admin...about them. I would like to request that the thread be unlocked so that I may undo the derailing that has occured.
