AMV legality

yes yes, i know, we've all seen this post before, and i know AMVs are legal, but can we make a sticky including the laws and such regarding AMVs, My friends want to know how legal AMVs are and I can't find the topic i read about the laws regarding AMVs

Please post the links to other "legality" messages so i can quote stuff to my friends.
